Dates: March 24, 2015
Location: Simon Fraser University Wosk Centre for Dialogue, Vancouver, BC

Join legal scholars and respected experts for a panel discussion on the Harper Government’s proposed Bill C-51.

Currently winging its way through the House of Commons, Bill C-51, the so-called “anti-terror'” bill, portends to transform Canada’s security architecture quite drastically. This panel of legal experts and political scientists will explore in some detail the various aspects of the legislation such as its provisions for an enhanced “no-fly list,” “preventative detention,” the new “kinetic powers” that would be afforded CSIS, as well as the question of civilian over-sight. It will also address the legislation’s impact on recent immigrants, the Muslim community in particular.
